The U.S. Food and Administration approved tapinarof cream 1% (Vtama, Organon) for treating atopic dermatitis (AD) in adults and children aged two and older. Phil Brown, MD, JD, Dermatologic Scientific Lead at Organon, spoke to TDD/JDNPPA about the new nod. “We are extremely excited about the approval of Vtama for children as young as 2 years of age up through adults that are suffering from atopic dermatitis. This is such a major milestone…for both practitioners as well as for the patients [who] suffer from this condition,” he says. “Vtama is a completely new topical non-steroidal agent. It has shown in its clinical trials to have an excellent tolerability and safety profile, even in these youngest children that suffer from the disease so significantly.”
