VITFriends and University of Miami Miller School of Medicine received the 2024 Incyte Ingenuity Awards (IIA) in Vitiligo, the Company reports.
VITFriends Vitiligo Support Group received the up to $100,000 award to launch Legislative and Advocacy Training Weekend, a national event that brings together vitiligo patients, families, and allies to learn how to influence public policy, advocate for access to care, and educate their communities.
The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine received the up to $35,000 award for its project, “Barriers and Facilitators to Psychosocial Support as an Integral Aspect of Vitiligo Patient Comprehensive Care,” which aims to explore the accessibility and impact of psychosocial support in vitiligo treatment for patients in Florida.
The recipients of the inaugural Vitiligo Innovators Program T (VIP), which honors personal dedication and leadership, are:
- Healthcare Innovator: Richard Huggins, MD, of Henry Ford Health Hospital in Detroit, MI, for his dedication to patient-centered care and consistent support of vitiligo patient groups.
- Rising Innovator: Maggi Ahmed, MD, PhD, UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, MA, for her research and pursuit of better outcomes for people with vitiligo.
- Community Innovator: Valarie Molyneaux, VITFriends Vitiligo Support Community, for her vitiligo advocacy, decades of grassroots leadership, building community, and changing perceptions through education and advocacy.
