The International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) has announced the 20 recipients of its 2024 Certificates of Appreciation.
The Awards recognize outstanding contributions to improving the lives of individuals with skin diseases made by dermatologists and others working in the dermatology field.
Recipients were nominated by ILDS members in two categories:
Certificate of Appreciation: International Leadership
This recognizes leadership demonstrated by an individual who has positively impacted global health policies and practices and furthered cross-border research, education and the empowerment of dermatologists, their communities and the public. The recipients are:

Certificate of Appreciation: Humanitarian Dermatology
This recognizes work undertaken by an individual in a selfless, humanitarian and not-for-profit capacity to improve the skin health of people in underserved regions of the world. The recipients are:

- Dr Claudia Marcela Arenas Soto Esp MSc MBA, Latin America

- Belen Lardizabal Dofitas, MD FPDS, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania
- Prof MD Mohammad Huq, West, South and Central Asia
- Rebecca Vasquez, MD, North America
- Dr Mahesh Shah, West, South and Central Asia
“The nominations for this year’s Certificates of Appreciation highlight just some of the ground-breaking work being carried out by our colleagues around the world to increase our understanding of skin diseases and to raise the standard of care offered to patients, particularly those in underserved regions,” says ILDS President Prof Henry W. Lim, MD, in a news release. “We congratulate this year’s recipients and thank them for their outstanding contributions. They are truly an inspiration to us all.” Dr. Lim is also the former Chair of the Department of Dermatology at Henry Ford Hospital and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, MI. The ILDS Board awards its Certificates of Appreciation based on recommendations from its Award Committee, following nominations received from ILDS members.
