Spotless, New York City’s first walk-in, acne-only clinic, recently opened its doors on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
The Clinic offers same-day treatments for acne, from cortisone shots to 20% salicylic acid chemical peels and extractions, delivered by nurse practitioners trained by Amy Wechsler, MD, MBA, Co-Founder and CEO of Spotless Clinics, and a New York City-based Dermatologist and Psychiatrist. All of these express treatments cost $100.
Spotless also offers consultations for new patients and treatment packages, similar to many boutique exercise studios and blow-dry bars.
Dr. Wechsler started the Clinic with her daughter, Zoe. “I went to business school to figure out how to start a real business with Zoe because we loved doing our podcast in 2020,” she tells TDD/JDNPPA, referring to the “Am I Embarrassing You? Podcast: Everything you’ve never told your mom with Dr. Amy and Zoe Wechsler.”
Over the years in practice, Dr. Wechsler has had countless patients reach out at night and on weekends asking for a cortisone shot, and she could not accommodate them.

“Zoe and I realized a real need, and she suggested we open a pimple shot bar,” Dr Wechsler recalls. “This morphed over time to us thinking about opening clinics to treat all acne and address the pain points that patients were experiencing,” she says. “Most dermatologists have long wait lists, long waiting time for a first appointment. Dermatologists are usually open 9 a.m.–5 p.m. only, are expensive, and people are sometimes intimidated or embarrassed to go to a doctor.”
The Spotless staff can take care of anyone with acne. “We think most of our patients will range in age from 13–29, but we will have some younger and many older than that,” she predicts.
Spotless Clinics are open until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. “Patients can walk in for an appointment or book ahead of time,” she says. “Our physical space is inviting, friendly, and warm. Our clinicians have been trained by me in my office in my way of treating acne, and I have written a curriculum for training as well.”
