Zoe Diana Draelos, MD, a Dermatologist in solo private practice in High Point, NC, and President of Dermatology Consulting Services, PLLC, reviewed data from a 52-week study that showed clascoterone cream 1% (Winlevi, Sun Pharma) significantly reduced sebum production and improved all types of breakouts. The data were presented at the 2025 Fall Clinical Dermatology Conference in Las Vegas, NV.
This study included 40 patients aged 12 and up with mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris. At Week 52, sebum measurements decreased by 47% compared to baseline, with corresponding improvements in lesion counts and other measures.
Other key findings include:
- A 73% decrease in inflammatory lesions and a 61% decrease in non-inflammatory lesions
- A 55% reduction in Investigator’s Global Assessment (IGA) score
- No treatment-related adverse events
