In observation of World Psoriasis Day on October 29 and the upcoming H&W Global Dermatology CME Conference, Health & Wellness Global Alliance founders Drs. Firas George Hougeir and Jonathan Weiss are calling for more attention to the skin and joint symptoms of psoriasis and to the psychological, emotional, and physical comorbidities that are associated with the disease.
The International Federation of Psoriatic Disease Associations’ (IFPA) World Psoriasis Day is observed in 70 countries.
“Psoriasis can have a tremendous impact on an individual’s quality of life because skin and joint symptoms can cause functional impairments, discomfort, and, of course, psychological and emotional effects,” says Dr. Hougeir in a news release. He adds that, from targeted topicals to biologics to small-molecule oral agents, dermatologists have more options than ever before to manage psoriatic disease in the US. Clinicians need to be innovative and aggressive in treating psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and can benefit tremendously from listening to international colleagues.
To promote better diagnosis and treatment of the visible and invisible impact of psoriasis, the H&W Global Dermatology CME Conference will present international perspective on the diagnosis and management of the disease.
“We are pleased to welcome internationally known experts like Marie-Aleth Richard, MD, Jorge Ocampo Candiani, MD, PhD, Christopher Griffiths, OBE, MD, FMedSci, and Leon Kircik, MD, to the H&W Global Dermatology CME Conference,” says Dr. Weiss. “Through presentations and panel discussions, they will present global best practices and insights that will enable attendees to immediately improve their approach to patient care.
“Despite significant therapeutic advancements, research shows high levels of patient dissatisfaction with psoriasis treatment and dermatology care providers. Ongoing global dialogue is a key component of improving care.”
Drs. Hougeir and Weiss invite dermatologists, dermatology nurse practitioners and physician associates/assistants, and other allied healthcare providers to join them at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island in South Carolina November 12-16, 2025. Beyond pharmacological advancements, discussion will also focus on issues like supportive skincare, environmental exposures, the microbiome, and more. Visit the agenda and faculty listings online.
